ClearBank Europe: a bank for payment firms and digital assets
ClearBank Europe N.V. is the Amsterdam bank of the British ClearBank group. Fintechs, payment institutions and crypto firms reach euro accounts and SEPA Instant through its API, and it moves money between regulated institutions with the EURC stablecoin.
Banking licenses in the Netherlands and the UK
ClearBank Europe N.V. is authorized by the European Central Bank and regulated by De Nederlandsche Bank. The UK bank of the group, ClearBank Limited in London, is authorized by the Prudential Regulation Authority (ClearBank). The group sells banking and payment infrastructure through one API and holds euro funds at De Nederlandsche Bank and the ECB (ClearBank).
Digital Asset Rails with EURC
On its Digital Asset Rails, value travels as EURC and settles back into euros via SEPA Instant, at any hour and without correspondent banks. Uses include cross-border payments, liquidity sweeps between entities and settlement for platforms; anti-money laundering and Travel Rule checks apply end to end, and clients keep custody of their own wallets. The service is open to EU-regulated institutions only. ClearBank Europe is the first Dutch credit institution authorized by the AFM as a crypto-asset service provider under MiCA, and it has signed an agreement with Bybit EU for banking infrastructure and safeguarding (ClearBank).
SEPA Instant for payment firms
For its report on SEPA Instant adoption, ClearBank surveyed banks, e-money institutions and payment institutions. All 60 banks in the survey already met the first requirements of the EU Instant Payments Regulation, while 59 percent of payment institutions and 46 percent of e-money institutions plan to keep reaching SEPA Instant through a bank (ClearBank).
