Bundesblock: The German Blockchain Association

The Blockchain Bundesverband e.V., Bundesblock for short, was founded in Berlin on June 29, 2017, as a non-profit association for the promotion of blockchain technology. With more than 90 member companies and research institutions, it is the largest industry association for blockchain technology in the DACH region.

Its motto is "From the community, for the community." Bundesblock is the contact for society, business, politics, education and research, and the voice of the German blockchain community and of the companies that use the technology. Its mission is to demand and promote the best possible conditions for distributed, decentralized applications and to make Germany a lasting location for distributed ledger technologies.

Digital Assets Day 2026 in Munich

On October 30, 2026, Bundesblock curates the Digital Assets Day at the House of Communication in Munich. The day is part of the TUM Blockchain Conference 26, which the TUM Blockchain Club holds from October 29 to 31, 2026. It is made for financial institutions, corporate leaders, the public sector and market builders who want to know which digital asset technologies are ready for scale.

Three stages carry the program. The Main Stage sets the strategic frame, the Executive Forum holds curated discussions among decision makers, and the Future Stage shows practice from the industry. Topics include digital capital markets, stablecoins and payments, tokenization and real-world assets, and policy and regulation. One ticket covers the full conference and hackathon, and Bundesblock members get a special rate.

What Bundesblock works on

Most of Bundesblock's work happens in its working groups. The Finance & Capital Markets group follows the legal and technical changes that blockchain brings to banks and fund structures. The Treasury group looks at programmable money, stablecoins and blockchain cash management, and the Digital Euro group at how the central bank digital currency should be designed. Other groups cover DAOs, tax, digital identities, AI and DLT, NFTs, supply chains, education and science. Members join a group through the association's Slack.

Bundesblock publishes position papers, for example on the taxation of crypto assets, and a study on blockchain in corporate treasury. Besides the executive board it has an expert advisory board and a political board with members of parliamentary groups in the Bundestag and the European Parliament. Its office is in Berlin.

The rules a German blockchain association follows

For finance, three sets of rules shape the blockchain business in Germany. MiCA governs crypto-asset services and stablecoins, and MiCA in Germany explains how BaFin applies it. The Electronic Securities Act (eWpG) allows bonds and shares as crypto securities, covered on tokenization in Germany. The ECB is preparing the digital euro, explained in the digital euro answer. Bundesblock's finance, treasury and digital euro groups write their papers on these three fields.

Bundesblock at Finance Loop

Finance Loop joined Bundesblock as a member in September 2024 and cooperates with it on finance topics. As part of that partnership, Bundesblock uses the YARD event calendar for its members, so they can find blockchain events across Germany.

Bundesblock was among the cooperation partners of Finance Loop's official side event of AI Week Frankfurt 2025, with Frankfurt Main Finance, Web3 Network, AI Hub Frankfurt and Sopra Financial Technology. The Blockchain Bundesverband also supported TechClub 25/3, the fintech and crypto afterwork party at TechQuartier in March 2025.
