DeepTech & Climate Fonds (DTCF)
The DeepTech & Climate Fonds is a German growth investor with 1 billion euros under management, financed by the federal Zukunftsfonds and the ERP Special Fund. It describes its work as partnering "with bold innovators and stellar investors to build industry-defining companies in DeepTech and ClimateTech". It writes tickets of 5 to 50 million euros, always next to private investors, and holds for the long term. Dated events are in the calendar below.
How the fund invests
On its own page DTCF says it invests from Series A into early growth. A first investment is usually 5 to 10 million euros, made together with European investors, and the fund can put up to 50 million euros into one company over time. It takes minority stakes with less than 25 percent of the voting rights and has a fund life of at least 25 years. Its fields are industry, computing, climate and life science, and its partners are venture funds, family offices and corporates that invest alongside it.
The management company is DeepTech & Climate Fonds Management GmbH, with offices in Berlin, Bonn and Munich. Sebastian Borek, Dr. Achim Plum and Romy Schnelle are its managing directors.
Public money and the Zukunftsfonds
The Zukunftsfonds is the federal government's 10 billion euro program for venture capital. KfW announced it with a deep tech building block of up to 1 billion euros that invests directly in companies with a long-term view, and every building block invests on the same terms as its private co-investors. KfW Capital in Frankfurt coordinates the program. The page on deep tech venture capital covers the other building blocks and the WIN initiative of banks and insurers.
Since February 2026 DTCF and the High-Tech Gründerfonds work as one public-private investment platform. HTGF's seed funds, its Opportunity Fund and DTCF's growth investments together finance tech companies from seed to growth, in energy, quantum, semiconductors, life sciences, climate and AI. When the merger was announced, DTCF held 19 companies.
Quantum computing in the portfolio
The investment with the clearest link to finance is planqc, a Munich company that builds quantum computers from single neutral atoms. DTCF and the family office CATRON Holding led its 50 million euro Series A, with Bayern Kapital, the Max Planck Foundation, UVC and Speedinvest. planqc uses the money for a quantum computing cloud service and for software for chemistry, healthcare, climate tech, automotive and finance.
For banks, quantum computing promises faster portfolio optimization and risk simulation, and it threatens today's encryption. Both sides are covered on quantum computing in Frankfurt finance and post-quantum cryptography in finance.

What is the DeepTech & Climate Fonds?
It is a German venture investor for deep tech and climate tech companies in their growth phase, with 1 billion euros under management from the Zukunftsfonds and the ERP Special Fund. It always invests together with private investors.
How much does DTCF invest per company?
A first ticket is usually 5 to 10 million euros, and the fund can invest up to 50 million euros in one company across several rounds. It stays a minority shareholder below 25 percent of the voting rights.
What is the difference between DTCF and HTGF?
The High-Tech Gründerfonds calls itself a multi-stage platform that backs founders from pre-seed to growth, with its seed funds at the core. DTCF invests in growth rounds from Series A. Since February 2026 both work on one platform, so a company can be financed from the first round to growth by the same public investor group.
