Worldpay payments for merchants in Europe
Worldpay processes card and online payments for large merchants and platforms, and it now belongs to Global Payments. Its newer products for European merchants are Wero acceptance, payouts in stablecoins through BVNK, and checkout tools for purchases that an AI agent makes for a shopper.
Card acquiring and merchant payments
Worldpay processes $2.3 trillion a year for merchants (Worldpay). Its products cover online and in-store acceptance, a payments API and a payouts platform that pays sellers, creators and contractors. Global Payments completed its acquisition of Worldpay from GTCR and FIS and, in the same transaction, sold its Issuer Solutions business to FIS (Global Payments). The combined company states that it serves more than 6 million merchant locations in more than 175 countries.
Wero for Worldpay merchants
Worldpay joined the European Payments Initiative as a principal member so that its merchants can accept Wero, the account-to-account wallet that runs on instant SEPA transfers in Germany, France and Belgium (Worldpay). For a German online shop this adds a bank-based method next to cards and PayPal, with no card scheme in the chain. Wero payments in Germany explains how the wallet works and which banks offer it.
Stablecoin payouts and AI agents
With the stablecoin firm BVNK, Worldpay offers clients in the US and Europe payouts in stablecoins to recipients in more than 180 markets, through the same payouts integration that already sends 135 fiat currencies; the client does not hold the digital assets itself (Worldpay). For agentic commerce, Worldpay says it works with OpenAI's Agentic Commerce Protocol and Google's Universal Commerce Protocol, shows merchants each agent interaction, and publishes Worldpay MCP as an open-source way for agents to reach its APIs (Worldpay). Agentic payments covers how card networks and banks authenticate a purchase made by software.

Who owns Worldpay?
Global Payments. It bought Worldpay from GTCR and FIS, and FIS took over the Global Payments Issuer Solutions business in the same deal. FIS has its own page on this site.
Does Worldpay support stablecoins?
For payouts, yes. Through BVNK, a Worldpay client can pay recipients in stablecoins from its existing payouts integration. Stablecoin payments explains how such a transfer settles and how MiCA treats it in the EU.
