Berlin Blockchain Week

Berlin Blockchain Week (BBW) is a week of blockchain conferences, hackathons and meetups in Berlin each June, and nobody owns it. Any in-person event in Berlin on blockchain or a neighboring field can join its calendar. The 2026 edition ran from June 13 to 21 with 68 events on the official calendar; the 2027 dates are not published yet.

How Berlin Blockchain Week works

The week started in 2018. Its website calls it "a decentralized community-organized initiative" and "an agnostic movement based on the premise that self-organization is the backbone of our ecosystem". The Department of Decentralization, a non-profit collective from Berlin that formed in 2018 to run the ETHBerlin hackathon, coordinates the week loosely: it hosts the website and posts news about it. Each event has its own organizer and its own registration.

An event is accepted on the calendar when it takes place in Berlin, in person, inside the dates of the week, and deals with blockchain or a related field. Online events are refused. Organizers are asked to keep their event educational and as cheap for attendees as they can, and they submit it through a form on the site.

Events during Berlin Blockchain Week

Of the 68 events in 2026, the calendar listed 13 conferences, 4 hackathons, 27 meetups, 8 parties, 6 happy hours, one coworking day and 9 other formats. The conferences carry most of the content. DappCon, hosted by Gnosis at Radialsystem, calls itself "the leading summit for applications & infrastructure for an open internet"; its program covered real-time zero-knowledge proving, token issuance on Ethereum and the funding of open-source software.

In its overview of the 2026 week, BTC-ECHO (in German) counted about 2,000 people at the Solana Summit Germany on the opening day, which treated Solana as infrastructure for internet capital markets. It also listed Berlin Ethereum Day at Funkhaus Berlin, the Web3 Summit on privacy and open infrastructure, and an AI Agents Summit on agent payments and on-chain identity, followed by a three-day hackathon.

Blockchain Week for banks and asset managers

Berlin Blockchain Week is a week for builders. The BTC-ECHO overview lists no event on banking or stablecoin rules; finance comes up inside developer conferences, such as capital markets on Solana or the debate on Ethereum's issuance at DappCon. Most people on stage write protocol code or do research.

For a banker, asset manager or payments specialist, that is the reason to go: the teams that build settlement and custody on public chains are in one city for a week. Pick two or three sessions on subjects that touch your work and use the evening meetups to talk to the teams. The regulated side of the same subjects, from custody to MiCA, is the program of conferences such as the Crypto Assets Conference in Frankfurt.

Upcoming blockchain events in Berlin

When is Berlin Blockchain Week?

In June. The 2025 edition ran from June 7 to 22 and the 2026 edition from June 13 to 21. The organizers publish the next dates on blockchainweek.berlin, and the event calendar there fills in the weeks before the start.

Do I need a ticket for Berlin Blockchain Week?

There is no ticket for the week as a whole. Each event runs its own registration, many of them on Luma, and the week's rules ask organizers to keep prices low. Some meetups are free; a conference such as DappCon sells its own tickets.

How can I add an event to Berlin Blockchain Week?

Through the Submit Event form on the official site. The event has to take place in Berlin, in person, within the dates of the week, and it has to deal with blockchain or a neighboring field. Online events are not accepted.

Is ETHBerlin part of Berlin Blockchain Week?

Not on a fixed basis. ETHBerlin describes itself as "not a conference but a hackathon", and its editions ran in September 2018, August 2019, September 2022 and May 2024, outside the June week. The 2026 listing on Blockchain Gamer still names it as an anchor of the week.

Is the German Blockchain & AI Week the same event?

No. The German Blockchain & AI Week is a separate conference with its own organizer and tickets. Its 2025 edition took place at w3.hub in Kreuzberg with more than 60 speakers, and both events fall in June.
