Bitcoin, Fiat & Rock'n'Roll
Bitcoin, Fiat & Rock'n'Roll, BFRR for short, is a podcast about digital money. It covers Bitcoin, stablecoins and central bank digital currencies, and how the traditional financial system relates to one built on blockchain. A new episode comes out every Sunday: an interview, a monthly news briefing or an episode that explains the basics.
The first episodes went out in June 2019 and dealt with Libra, the currency Facebook had announced. BFRR started in German, and more than 300 German episodes had appeared by January 2025. Since then a growing share of episodes is in English, and the feed held 414 episodes in October 2026.
Five hosts
The podcast has five co-hosts: Alexander Bechtel, Michael Blaschke, Jonas Gross, Manuel Klein and Stefan Grasmann. Jonas Gross is also chairman of the Digital Euro Association. The Berlin consultancy etonec is a partner of the podcast.
Stablecoins, central banks and the digital euro
The episodes of September and October 2026 were about stablecoins and central bank money. Nick Philpott talked about the future of stablecoins, another episode asked why the rebuild of payments on stablecoins is still unfinished, and a monthly briefing covered the Pontes project of the ECB, tokenized stocks and the race for digital money rails. Marieke Flament spoke about money, power and what she calls the great monetary reset.
A monthly interview series on digital money runs alongside the Sunday episodes. BFRR also records on site: the 400th episode included live impressions from the Point Zero Forum 2026 in Zurich, and the hosts held a panel at Frankfurt Digital Finance 2025.
Where to listen
BFRR is on Apple Podcasts and in other podcast apps through its feed, and episodes also appear on YouTube. The German episodes from 2019 onward stay in the archive, so listeners who want the podcast in German find more than 300 episodes there.
