Figment
Figment is a staking infrastructure company headquartered in Toronto, Canada, that runs validators on more than 30 proof-of-stake networks such as Ethereum, Solana and Avalanche. Asset managers, exchanges, custodians, wallets and foundations stake their tokens through these validators without handing the tokens over. Figment counts more than 1,500 institutional clients and works remote-first across 23 countries.
Lorien Gabel, Andrew Cronk and Matt Harrop founded the company in 2018, and Lorien Gabel leads it as chief executive. In 2019 Figment Networks also began to run a node for Chainlink, the oracle network that brings prices and other outside data to smart contracts. The products include a staking app, staking and rewards APIs, white-label validators and coverage against slashing losses.
Chainlink node since 2019
In October 2019 Figment Networks announced that it had run a Chainlink oracle and data processor node for several months. The Chainlink ecosystem directory lists Figment Networks as a node operator and channel partner on Ethereum, with 2019 as the year of its entry. The entry describes Figment as a provider of node and staking infrastructure with its operations team in North America and names Hubble, the blockchain explorer Figment built for developers.
Ethereum staking for funds and banks
On Ethereum, Figment runs validators for exchange-traded products that hold ether for their investors. Morgan Stanley Investment Management selected Figment as a staking provider for the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust and the Morgan Stanley Solana Trust, which began trading on NYSE Arca on July 28, 2026 with staking from the first day. The Ethereum trust generally intends to stake 50 to 80 percent of its ether, and about 95 percent of the rewards are to pass through to shareholders.
In Germany, Crypto Finance (Deutschland), a company of Deutsche Börse, launched a staking service for ether and SOL with Figment in October 2025, for institutional clients whose assets it already holds in custody. In February 2026 Figment reported that it was the first company in North America and Europe with full NORS certification, an audited standard for the risk controls of Ethereum node operators.
Solana staking and the Ledger by Figment validator
Owners of a Ledger hardware wallet can stake SOL on Solana from the Ledger Live app with the validator Ledger by Figment, which Figment operates. Figment reported for the fourth quarter of 2024 that this validator earned an average staking rewards rate of 8.15 percent, against a network average of 6.41 percent across more than 1,400 active Solana validators. Since March 2024 Ledger Live users can also stake ether with Figment, in steps of 32 ETH and with their own wallet as the withdrawal address.
Staking API and white-label staking
Exchanges, wallets and custodians that offer staking to their own customers can connect to the Staking API of Figment, which builds staking transactions in the same way for every supported network, among them Ethereum, Solana, Cosmos, Polkadot and Avalanche. A separate Rewards API calculates what Figment validators earn, so that a platform can report the rewards to each of its customers.
With white-label staking, Figment runs private validators that a customer presents under its own brand, with its own validator fees and its own reward distribution. The customer also chooses the validator software, the location of the validator and the custody setup, while Figment operates the servers.

How does Figment protect stakers against slashing?
Slashing is the penalty a proof-of-stake network imposes when a validator signs twice or, on some networks, stays offline too long, and it reduces the delegated tokens as well. Figment runs its validators in an environment certified under SOC 2 and ISO 27001 and offers coverage for double signing, downtime and missed rewards. Ethereum customers can add double-sign cover from Nexus Mutual and, according to Figment, reach up to 100 percent protection.
Who leads Figment and where is it based?
Lorien Gabel is chief executive and co-founder of Figment, which he started in 2018 together with Andrew Cronk and Matt Harrop. The company is headquartered in Toronto and works as a remote-first company with staff in 23 countries.
