Bitstack

Bitstack is a French savings app for bitcoin that rounds up everyday card payments to the next euro and invests the difference in bitcoin. Users connect any bank account or pay with the Bitstack card, set up daily, weekly or monthly purchases from one euro and can send bitcoin to other users or to any bitcoin address.

The company has its registered office in Meyreuil near Aix-en-Provence and reported more than 300,000 active users at the end of 2025. The French market regulator AMF authorized Bitstack under MiCA on 30 June 2025, which lets it offer its savings app in other countries of the European Union.

Saving small change in bitcoin

The idea behind Bitstack is to buy bitcoin with amounts that people do not notice, the cents left over when a card payment is rounded up. The app adds these amounts and buys bitcoin with them, and users who want more set up recurring purchases or direct a share of their salary into bitcoin.

In June 2025 Bitstack counted 200,000 users who had saved more than 200 million euros in bitcoin, according to Cryptoast, and by December the company reported 300,000 active users.

Authorization under MiCA

The AMF authorized Bitstack Digital Assets SAS on 30 June 2025 under Article 63 of MiCA, with the number A2025-003 on the AMF white list. The authorization covers five of the ten MiCA services, among them custody for clients, exchange against euros, execution of orders and transfers.

The interim MiCA register of the European supervisor ESMA lists 26 host countries of the European Union beyond France, so Bitstack can serve savers across the EU with its French license.

Card, IBAN account and Series A

In December 2025 Bitstack raised 15 million dollars in a Series A round and announced a euro account with a French IBAN and a Visa card, as Journal du Coin reported (in French). The card connects spending in euros with the round-up into bitcoin in the same app.

Bitstack secures the bitcoin of its users in digital vaults with a multi-signature scheme and states that it does not use or lend customer assets without their permission.

Rounding up card payments into bitcoin

The round-up is the main feature of Bitstack: every card payment is rounded up to the next euro, and the difference goes into bitcoin. Users link their existing bank account to the app or pay with the Bitstack card, and the app collects the change and converts it into bitcoin.

The Bitstack app

The Bitstack app is available for iPhone and Android phones and handles registration, identity checks, purchases and the bitcoin wallet in one place. Users also see the current bitcoin price in the app and can sell bitcoin back into euros at any time.

Fees and costs

Bitstack charges a fee on purchases and sales of bitcoin, and the amount depends on the type of order that the user places. The current fee table is published on the Bitstack website, so users can check the cost before they start a savings plan.

Sending, receiving and withdrawing bitcoin

Users send bitcoin to another Bitstack user or to any bitcoin address and receive bitcoin on the address of their Bitstack wallet. Withdrawals to an outside wallet, such as a hardware wallet, run under the transfer service of the MiCA license.

MiCA license from the AMF

Bitstack received its MiCA license from the AMF a year before the French transitional period for existing providers ended on 30 June 2026. Its number A2025-003 makes Bitstack the third company on the list of MiCA authorizations that the AMF keeps.
