CACEIS
CACEIS is the asset servicing group of Crédit Agricole and appears under the brand Crédit Agricole CACEIS. Asset managers, pension funds, banks, brokers and private equity funds hand CACEIS the work that follows an investment decision: keeping the securities, settling trades, valuing funds and acting as depositary.
For these clients CACEIS held 5.9 trillion euros in assets under custody and 3.7 trillion euros under administration at the end of 2025, according to the bank. The group works in 18 countries and reaches more than 80 markets through its network of sub-custodians, so a fund can buy securities abroad without opening its own local account.
Custody, depositary and fund administration
Custody at CACEIS covers safekeeping and settlement of securities as well as asset servicing, such as collecting interest and dividends and processing corporate actions. As depositary, the bank holds the assets of a fund apart from its manager and checks that the manager follows the fund rules. Fund administration adds the daily net asset value, the fund accounting and the register of fund shareholders.
CACEIS also lists trade execution and clearing, foreign exchange, securities lending, support for fund distribution, middle-office outsourcing and services for issuers on its own website.
Crypto custody under MiCA
On 30 June 2025 CACEIS announced that the French ACPR had authorized CACEIS Bank as a crypto-asset service provider under Article 60 of MiCA, after an opinion of the AMF. The authorization covers custody and administration of crypto-assets, reception and transmission of orders, and transfers of crypto-assets.
With the European passport CACEIS Bank can offer these services in every EU country, so a fund in Germany can hold crypto-assets at the same depositary bank that keeps its securities. CACEIS is one of the banks among the largest crypto custodians in Europe, next to specialist firms that hold only crypto-assets.
CACEIS in Germany: Munich and Frankfurt
In Germany the group works through CACEIS Bank, Germany Branch, a branch of the French CACEIS Bank S.A. with offices in Munich and Frankfurt. According to CACEIS, the branch has 450 employees and offers the full range of custody and fund administration as well as the depositary function for all asset types. CACEIS counts itself among the ten largest depositaries in Germany and in third place for real asset funds, such as real estate funds.
Anja Maiberger leads the Germany branch of CACEIS as Country Managing Director. German asset managers use the branch as depositary for their funds under the German Investment Code, which requires an independent depositary for every investment fund.
