ChatGPT in Frankfurt: where it is taught and what the banks ask

ChatGPT is the assistant from OpenAI that most Frankfurt finance teams tried before any other, usually on a private account and usually without telling anyone. The interesting question in this city is no longer what it can do but who teaches it properly and what a regulated employer has to settle before a team uses it on real documents.

Frankfurt has courses at the business schools, an IHK route for company training, and the city administration itself runs an AI chatbot for municipal services. All three are covered below.

What ChatGPT is and who makes it

ChatGPT is a product of OpenAI, a company based in San Francisco. It answers in a chat window, takes files, searches the web when asked, writes and runs code, and connects to other software. Besides the web app there are desktop and mobile apps and an API that other programs call. OpenAI also sells a coding tool in this family, OpenAI Codex, which is a separate product with its own page here.

In finance the work people hand it looks the same as with any assistant of this kind: summarize a long report, draft a first version of a memo, pull figures out of a table, explain a regulation in plain language. The constraint is also the same. Whatever comes back has to be checked against the source before anyone acts on it, which is why the useful habit is asking for the passage the answer rests on.

Where ChatGPT is taught in Frankfurt

Frankfurt School of Finance & Management runs AI certificate programs in its executive education, among them an AI for Finance certificate that covers machine learning, neural networks and generative AI inside the financial services context and ends in the credential Certified Financial AI Expert. Frankfurt School states that programming experience is not required and that basic IT understanding helps.

For a whole department the other Frankfurt route is the IHK. The IHK Bildungszentrum offers in-house company training with "Digitalisierung und KI" as one of its named subject areas, in person or online, either at the company's own premises or at the center, with content and duration set by the company and a non-binding quote through an inquiry form. Participants receive certificates of attendance listing the agreed content.

The city's adult education center, the Volkshochschule Frankfurt, appears in search suggestions for the same question and runs introductory courses for private learners. AI training in Frankfurt compares these formats by level and by who they are built for.

What the city of Frankfurt itself runs

The city administration put its own AI chatbot on frankfurt.de for municipal services, reachable around the clock through the 115 authority number. Journal Frankfurt tested it and reported that it answers questions about city services more naturally than the chatbot the city used before.

That matters for a finance reader as a precedent, not as a product: a German public administration put a language model in front of citizens and had to answer the same questions a bank answers, about data, about wrong answers, and about who is accountable for them.

What a Frankfurt bank settles before a rollout

Before a bank lets a team use an assistant on real files, four things have to be written down. Where the data goes and under whose contract. Whether the provider trains on the input. What is logged, and for how long, so an auditor can reconstruct a decision. And who the named human reviewer is for any output that reaches a customer or a credit file.

On top of that sit the obligations of the EU AI Act, which attach to the use case and not to the tool. A model drafting an internal summary is a different matter from a model scoring an applicant, and the second one carries duties the first does not.

How does ChatGPT compare with the other assistants?

ChatGPT is one of several products a finance team now chooses between. AI tools for finance sorts them by the work they are suited to, and ChatGPT and Claude compared for finance answers the head-to-head question people search for, by how each product works and without a verdict.

The field pages give the background: generative AI in finance on the technology, AI use cases in finance on what is actually in production, and AI in finance in Frankfurt on the city.

Where do people in Frankfurt bring their own prompts?

Finance Loop runs Claude Hacker House, where finance professionals work on their own documents with a model in the room instead of watching a demo. The habits transfer between assistants: a prompt that forces a citation works the same way whichever product you pay for.

Beyond that, AI in Frankfurt lists the institutions and events in the city, and the AI hub pages collect the regular meeting places.

ChatGPT and Finance Loop

Finance Loop runs the formats in Frankfurt where finance professionals bring their own work to these assistants instead of sitting through a vendor pitch. Finance Loop is the meeting place for the questions that follow the first week of use: what to log, what to show an auditor, and which process a model has no business touching yet.

Finance Loop is a professional network and has the goal of driving the adoption of emerging technologies in finance, such as AI, tokenization, stablecoins, and DeFi. Finance Loop helps its members build skills and personal networks in these fields: Investment & Digital Assets, Payments & Digital Money, Digital Infrastructure & Sovereignty, and Risk & Compliance.
