LGT
LGT is an international private bank and asset manager, founded in 1921 in Liechtenstein and owned by the Princely House of Liechtenstein, which is also its largest client. LGT manages assets for wealthy private clients, families, entrepreneurs and institutions, with about 6,000 employees in more than 40 locations and client assets of CHF 412.6 billion in mid-2026.
LGT Bank AG in Vaduz has offered its clients trading and custody of bitcoin and ether since 2022. Under MiCA, the bank notified the Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority FMA in December 2025 that it provides custody, order execution and transfers of crypto assets, and it can passport these services into 13 further European countries.
From Vaduz to more than 40 locations
LGT started in Liechtenstein in 1921 and grew over a century into a private bank with clients around the world. Clients can invest with the same strategy as the Princely Family, and LGT reports a net profit of CHF 281.6 million for the first half of 2026 and first-class credit ratings from Moody's and Standard & Poor's.
Besides private banking, the group offers asset structuring for families, real estate financing and advice on philanthropy. Its locations include Vaduz, Zurich, Singapore and Hong Kong, and the Liechtenstein financial center remains its home market.
MiCA notification of LGT Bank AG
As a licensed bank, LGT Bank AG needs no separate CASP authorization and can use the notification procedure of Article 60 of MiCA. The ESMA interim MiCA register lists the notification to the FMA with the date 19 December 2025, for custody and administration of crypto assets, execution of orders, reception and transmission of orders and transfer services.
The passport covers 13 further countries: Austria, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. The French regulator AMF lists the bank on its white list of passported providers with a start of services in France on 1 February 2026.
Crypto assets in private banking
In 2022 LGT Bank started bitcoin and ether trading and custody for its clients, with SEBA Bank as broker and custodian, a partnership that SEBA announced at the time. SEBA Bank in Zug is now AMINA Bank, and LGT clients hold their crypto assets next to their securities and cash at the bank.
The notification names four services and leaves out crypto advice and portfolio management, so those two are not part of the MiCA passport of LGT Bank AG. Liechtenstein also keeps its national blockchain law, which the page on crypto in Liechtenstein covers.
