Schuman Financial

Schuman Financial is a European company that issues EURØP, a stablecoin pegged one to one to the euro. EURØP is an e-money token, a digital euro on public blockchains that holders can transfer between wallets and redeem for euros. Businesses use it for near-instant transfers of euro amounts on blockchains, at any hour.

Qualified businesses mint new EURØP against euros sent to Schuman Financial and redeem tokens for euros through its platform. Other users buy and sell EURØP on crypto exchanges that list the token. The reserves behind EURØP are held in cash and cash equivalents at European banks.

A French e-money license under MiCA

Schuman Financial is the trading name of Salvus SAS, the issuer of EURØP and a subsidiary of Schuman Financial AG in Switzerland. The French supervisor ACPR approved the e-money token license of Salvus SAS, which allows the company to issue tokens pegged to any official currency in the EU, Cointelegraph reported. Under MiCA, a token that references one currency is an e-money token, and the French authorization covers every member state.

Reserves and attestation

Schuman Financial states that it holds all reserves in cash and cash equivalents, safeguarded at European financial institutions. KPMG, the statutory auditor of the issuing company, publishes a quarterly attestation that the reserves match the EURØP in circulation. Holders can redeem tokens for euros at par, as MiCA requires for every e-money token.

Founders, investors and blockchains

Martin Bruncko, formerly executive vice president of Binance Europe, co-founded Schuman Financial with Eduardo Morrison, another former Binance executive. A seed round of 7 million euros led by RockawayX closed in September 2024, with Kraken Ventures, Nexo Ventures, Lightspeed Faction and GnosisVC among the investors. EURØP launched on Ethereum and Polygon at the end of 2024 and later came to Solana, Avalanche and the XRP Ledger.

EURØP is listed on the crypto exchange Kraken, on Nexo and on Bitvavo.
