What the seminar covers
Finance Loop is supporting When Banks Say ‘No’ - Payments in Challenging Markets, a half-day payments seminar in Frankfurt at the NEXTOWER. The English session takes place on October 8, 2026, the German session on October 1, 2026, both from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. with registration from 1:30 p.m. and networking afterwards.
The seminar is built for professionals and executives in compliance, treasury, finance, export and legal roles who run international payment flows and answer for the regulatory side of them.
Geopolitical risk, de-risking, sanctions and digital assets have changed how money moves across borders. Companies hit blocked payments, terminated bank relationships and new reporting duties, often with little warning. Three speakers from International Business Service, A|Q FORENSICS and Dentons go through what to do in each case.
For Finance Loop, the topic sits where the community already works: banking, regulation and digital assets in one room.
Three talks, three perspectives on the same problem:
- Dr. Julia Pfeil, Partner at Dentons Europe LLP - When sanctions and anti-money laundering laws govern payments. Sanctions regimes keep moving. Julia Pfeil works on foreign trade law and on European and U.S. sanctions, and covers the current state of play, the rules that apply to high-risk countries, and what supervisory authorities now expect to see.
- Harald Knosp, Managing Director at International Business Service Corp GmbH - International payment flows in transition. Compliance requirements, de-risking and changed risk assessments are pushing banks out of certain markets and client relationships. Harald Knosp shows how payment routes are shifting, which channels carry which risk, and why digital assets keep coming up in the answer.
- Albert Quehenberger, Founder and Managing Director of A|Q FORENSICS GmbH - Blockchain forensics in practice. Albert Quehenberger traces cryptocurrency transactions for authorities, law enforcement and companies. Using case studies, he shows how blockchain-based money flows are tracked, where the risks sit, and what an investigation can actually establish.
The seminar ends with networking, which is where most of the specific questions get answered.
