Bitcoin Association Switzerland

The Bitcoin Association Switzerland (BAS) is an association of private members and companies that work with Bitcoin or support it. It was founded in late 2013 and calls itself the oldest fintech association in Switzerland. It holds events, works on open legal questions and is a contact point for media inquiries about Bitcoin.

The BAS runs Bitcoin meetups in Zurich, Geneva, Lucerne, Neuchâtel and Basel, and members can join working groups on policy and education. Private members pay CHF 21 a year and companies CHF 380, in francs or in bitcoin. Jan Brzezek, founder of Crypto Finance, is president.

Board members

Jan Brzezek built Crypto Finance from 2017 until Deutsche Börse Group took it over in full. The board also includes Lisa Tscherry, founder of SatoShe, a Bitcoin education program for women; Lewin Boehnke, Chief Strategy Officer at Crypto Finance; Ronald Kogens, a Swiss lawyer and secretary of the board; and Timo Frick, a lawyer in Liechtenstein who leads the association's work on regulation and policy.

Meetups and roadshow

The five city groups announce their meetups on Meetup. In 2025 the BAS took a roadshow to Bern in January, Lausanne in February, a boat on Lake Zurich at Rapperswil in March and Basel in September. Corporate members can sponsor these events and post job openings to the membership.
