Coinmotion
Coinmotion is a Finnish crypto service from Jyväskylä where private customers and companies buy, sell, save and store crypto assets in euros. The service connects to Finnish banks, offers more than 300 crypto assets, monthly savings plans and help with crypto taxes, and its customer support answers in Finnish and Swedish.
Coinmotion started in 2012 under the name Prasos and reports more than 150,000 users in the Nordics. In July 2025 the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority, FIN-FSA, authorized Coinmotion Oy under MiCA, the first such authorization in Finland, and the company also holds a payment institution license.
From Prasos to Coinmotion
The company started in 2012 under the name Prasos, founded by early bitcoin users who wanted to build the crypto services they would use themselves. Under the name Coinmotion it grew into a crypto service for everyday savers and investors, and its management team brings together early bitcoin advocates and people from banking and finance.
Antti-Jussi Suominen leads Coinmotion as chief executive, and he previously ran the Finnish business account provider Holvi for more than four years. Coinmotion Oy has its registered office in Jyväskylä, and the FIN-FSA also supervises it as a payment institution.
Authorization under MiCA in Finland
The FIN-FSA authorized Coinmotion Oy on 2 July 2025 as a crypto-asset service provider under Article 63 of MiCA, which made Coinmotion the first company in Finland with such an authorization. It covers custody and administration of crypto assets, exchange of crypto assets for money, execution of orders and transfer services for clients.
The interim MiCA register of ESMA lists Finland as home member state and Sweden as passport country, which matches the Swedish language version of the service. With a CASP license a provider can notify further EEA states later, and its supervisor passes the notification on to the host country.
Wealth service, OTC desk and business accounts
Coinmotion Wealth gives investors personal advice on crypto investing and taxation, and the OTC trading desk handles larger trades, where clients agree the details directly with a trader. Companies open business accounts, and a separate offer serves institutions that want to buy or hold crypto assets.
Monthly saving lets customers spread their purchases over time with automatic buys after each deposit. The Vault is an extra layer of protection for holdings, which Coinmotion offers because crypto transfers are fast and cannot be reversed once they leave the account.

The app for iOS and Android
The Coinmotion app lets customers buy and sell crypto assets in seconds, follow the value of their holdings and set up monthly saving on the phone. Deposits arrive from Finnish banks, so customers move euros between their bank account and the crypto account without a detour through a foreign exchange.

Coinmotion keeps customer funds in a multi-signature cold wallet infrastructure, and the FIN-FSA has approved its asset storage systems. Customers who prefer self-custody can withdraw their crypto assets to a wallet of their own, and the Vault adds a further layer of protection for assets that stay with Coinmotion.
