Swiss Fintech Association (SFTA)

The Swiss Fintech Association (SFTA) is the nonprofit association of fintech firms, founders, investors and professionals in Switzerland. It was formed in December 2024 when the Swiss Fintech Association and the Swiss Finance + Technology Association merged. Its seat is at the offices of the fintech accelerator Tenity in Zurich.

The SFTA speaks for fintech firms on regulation and policy, runs networking events such as its Zurich afterwork evenings, and offers members a marketplace, mentoring and a student program. Thomas Brändle and Philip Weights lead it as co-presidents.

The merger of 2024

The general assemblies of both associations approved the merger on December 18, 2024. The presidents of the two bodies, Thomas Brändle of the Swiss Fintech Association and Philip Weights of the Swiss Finance + Technology Association, became co-presidents. The Swiss Finance + Technology Association was known for its regional chapters, which held meetups and events.

In February 2025 the SFTA and Tenity agreed to place the association's headquarters at Tenity's offices on Pfingstweidstrasse in Zurich, to hold events together and to push for open banking, API standards and rules that suit fintech firms.

Topics and events

On the finance side the SFTA covers wealth management, insurance, compliance, payments, lending and sustainable finance; on the technology side blockchain, AI, APIs, cloud, cybersecurity and quantum computing. Besides its own events in Zurich, the SFTA partners with events in Switzerland and abroad, among them the Plan ₿ Forum in Lugano and the Singapore FinTech Festival.

Many Swiss fintech firms sell to the banks in Zurich, and fintech in Zurich has its own events such as the Swiss Fintech Week.
