Coinmate
Coinmate is a Czech crypto exchange from Prague where customers buy and sell bitcoin and other crypto assets directly in Czech koruna. Deposits from Czech banks cost nothing, new customers sign up with BankID, and the service offers one-click purchases, recurring buys, a trading platform with TradingView charts and an API for trading bots.
Roman Valihrach and Daniel Houška founded Coinmate in 2014 as the first Czech crypto exchange, and its trading volume passed one billion euros in 2020. The Czech National Bank authorized COINMATE a.s. under MiCA in its first wave of licenses, and the ESMA register lists the authorization on 27 February 2026.
Beer for bitcoins in San Jose
In 2013 the founders Roman Valihrach and Daniel Houška went to The Future of Payments in San Jose, California, one of the first large bitcoin conferences, and sold Pilsner beer for bitcoins there. A year later they started Coinmate in Prague as the only Czech crypto exchange, and over the following years the platform added Ethereum, Litecoin and Ripple to bitcoin.
In 2021 the investment company Miton and its fund Miton C invested in Coinmate, and Daniel Houška left to work on the payment project Confirmo. Since 2024 the betting company Tipsport has offered crypto assets to its customers through the infrastructure of Coinmate. Roman Valihrach leads the company as founder and chief executive, and customer support works from Zlín.
Authorization by the Czech National Bank
Coinmate obtained the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for information security in 2025 and applied to the Czech National Bank for an authorization under MiCA in the same year. The central bank issued its first MiCA authorizations in February 2026, and Coinmate received its license in this first wave of Czech approvals.
The interim MiCA register of ESMA lists COINMATE a.s. with the authorization date 27 February 2026 under Article 63 of MiCA. It covers custody and administration of crypto assets, operation of a trading platform, exchange of crypto assets for money or for other crypto assets and transfer services for clients. The register names all 29 other EEA states as passport countries, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein included, which a CASP license allows after notification.
Trading in Czech koruna
Coinmate says it runs the only crypto markets quoted in Czech koruna, so its customers avoid the fees of a conversion to euros. Quick Buy completes a first purchase within minutes, weekends included, and recurring buys spread purchases over time through a standing order that runs without further steps.
Earn credits rewards in Czech koruna every month for crypto assets that stay on the account, and customers can still sell or withdraw them at any time. Experienced traders use the Trading Platform with charts from TradingView, where all their usual technical analysis indicators are available.

What is Coinmate?
Coinmate is a crypto exchange from Prague, run by COINMATE a.s. since 2014, where customers trade bitcoin and other crypto assets against Czech koruna. The Czech National Bank supervises the company as a crypto-asset service provider under MiCA, and customers reach people from its support team in Zlín instead of a chatbot.
Exchange rate and fees in CZK
Prices on Coinmate form in markets quoted in Czech koruna, so the exchange rate for bitcoin comes directly in CZK without a detour through euros. Deposits from Czech banks are free of charge, and the fee list of Coinmate gives the current trading and withdrawal fees for each crypto asset.
Coinmate Prime for large trades
Coinmate Prime handles trades of at least 5,000,000 CZK or 200,000 EUR in BTC, ETH, USDC and SOL with one personal specialist and a fixed price for the whole volume. The fee falls with volume from 1.50 to 1.10 percent in koruna and from 1.20 to 0.80 percent in euros, and the specialist documents the source of funds for the bank of the client.
API and trading bots
The API is the interface for customers who build a trading bot of their own and want it to trade on the exchange directly. Coinmate also supports the most popular Czech tools for trade automation, so a customer can automate a strategy without writing any code.
Sign-up with BankID and the app
New customers open an account with BankID, the Czech bank identity, and confirm who they are with the login of their own bank instead of uploading documents. After the sign-up the first crypto purchase takes one more step, and the mobile app gives access to the same account on the phone.
