Fondsfrauen

Fondsfrauen is a career network for women in the financial industry and describes itself as the leading network of its kind. It started in 2015 as a network for women in the German investment fund business and is now open to women and companies from the whole financial sector in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

More than 6,000 women belong to the network, and over 90 companies support it as sponsors and supporters. Fondsfrauen connects women across hierarchy levels through monthly events, a mentoring program and studies, and it works with companies on equal career chances for women and men and on combining family and work.

Membership for professionals, students and businesses

An individual membership for women with work experience costs 199 euros a year and includes the mentoring and buddy programs, the events, the Fondsfrauen Gipfel and a member area with a video archive. Students pay 20 euros a year and attend the summit and a young professional workshop free of charge. A business membership for sole traders, coaches and startups costs 890 euros a year and adds a company profile, an annual blog article and speaker slots at events.

Larger firms such as fund companies, banks and depositaries join as sponsors or supporters. The sponsors include asset managers such as Allianz Global Investors, Amundi, BlackRock and Fidelity International, the custodians State Street and Northern Trust, and Clearstream of Deutsche Börse Group. Among German fund companies, DekaBank and Helaba Invest support the network as well.

Events from Frankfurt to Luxembourg and Zurich

Women in investment management networking in a lively contemporary finance event space

Fondsfrauen runs more than 80 events a year in over 13 cities in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and the UK. Formats range from business lunches and afterwork meetings to summer parties, for example in Munich, and digital lunch talks, where sponsors and members present career and market topics. The network started with free networking events in Frankfurt and then grew to Munich, Zurich, Austria and Luxembourg.

Mentoring and buddy program

The mentoring program pairs women who have at least five years of work experience with an experienced mentor for twelve months of advice and exchange. Applications open once a year, and mentors and mentees are matched in the first months of the following year. Members early in their careers join the buddy program, which starts in small groups led by the Young Talents Steering Committee and adds one-to-one meetings when the group size allows.
