Geneva Financial Center
Geneva Financial Center (GFC) is the umbrella organization of the finance sector in Geneva, legally the Fondation Genève Place Financière. The 80 banks that were members of the Geneva stock exchange set it up in 1991. It promotes Geneva as a financial center in Switzerland and abroad and speaks for the sector to the authorities.
Finance in Geneva rests on wealth management, commodity trade finance and commercial and retail banking. The sector employs about 38,000 people and produces 12.9 percent of the canton's GDP. Denis Pittet of Lombard Odier is president, and Edouard Cuendet has been managing director since 2014.
