GenTwo
GenTwo is a Swiss financial technology company in Zurich that turns investment strategies and assets into securities with their own ISIN. An asset manager, bank or family office brings the strategy, and GenTwo sets up the issuing vehicle, structures the product and administers it until it ends. Investors then buy the product through an ordinary bank or brokerage account, the same way they buy a share or a bond.
The most common product is the actively managed certificate, or AMC, a security whose basket a portfolio manager can change during its term. GenTwo calls its model securitization and tokenization as a service: licensed partners handle custody, brokerage and paying agency, while GenTwo does the structuring and the lifecycle work. The company was founded in Zurich in 2018 and also runs offices in London and Pristina.
Clients, products and assets under service
Since 2018, GenTwo has worked with more than 300 banks, platforms, asset managers and family offices in 30 countries and has created more than 1,750 products. On 25 August 2026 the company reported more than USD 8 billion in assets under service, four months after it had passed USD 7 billion. GenTwo names Swissquote, Sygnum, Interactive Brokers and Binance among the banks and platforms it works with, and Bank Frick, EFG and AMINA among the private banks.
The product range for asset managers covers AMCs, trackers, credit-linked notes and structured products on equities, bonds, private equity, funds, currencies, commodities and digital assets. The manager keeps the strategy, the investment decisions and the client relationship, which makes the model a form of asset management as a service. With the AMC Creator, a regulated asset manager compares six pre-integrated execution partners, among them Swissquote and Interactive Brokers, and gets a live Swiss ISIN within days once the strategy and partner are chosen. Banks such as Swissquote use GenTwo Pro for Banks to let their own clients launch AMCs, either inside GenTwo Pro or through an API in the bank portal.
Issuance vehicles in four domiciles
Every GenTwo product sits in a bankruptcy-remote, off-balance-sheet special purpose vehicle, and each product has its own segregated compartment or cell. Since 28 September 2026, the platform GenTwo Pro has had three issuance routes called Lite, Flex and Smart. Lite is a standardized route for bankable AMCs of licensed asset managers, issued from a segregated compartment in Guernsey or the Cayman Islands.
Flex covers tailored AMCs, trackers, credit-linked notes and structured products, including assets that a bank cannot hold directly, with compartments in Guernsey, the Cayman Islands and Luxembourg. Smart gives a manager or a bank a dedicated issuance vehicle in Guernsey, the Cayman Islands or Switzerland, with a shelf of products that each carry their own ISIN. The Luxembourg issuer went live in 2026, and GenTwo publishes the ISINs of products from approved templates to SIX and Bloomberg.
Regulation: issuer, partners and collateral
GenTwo AG is a stock corporation in the commercial register of the Canton of Zurich under the number CHE-417.358.268, and its registered purpose is advice and services in the financial sector. The legal notice of GenTwo states that the company itself does not offer or issue financial products and addresses its information only to institutional and professional investors. The regulated steps of each product go to a network of more than 80 licensed custodians, brokers and paying agents.
Security Agent Services AG in Zug, an independent collateral and security agent founded in 2021, holds pledged assets for investors in GenTwo products. GenTwo joined the Swiss Structured Products Association in 2025, according to the company history. In June 2026, FINMA published Guidance 03/2026 on products in individual portfolio management, which names AMCs among the products where portfolio managers must check suitability and disclose risks with particular care.
Digital assets and tokenized products
GenTwo Digital AG, a Zurich group company launched in 2019, applies the same model to crypto assets. Its products on digital assets include AMCs with discretionary crypto portfolios, trackers on a single token or a basket, and capital-protected notes, barrier reverse convertibles and accumulators, all with a Swiss ISIN that a standard bank account can hold. GenTwo argues that banks need such a wrapper because direct crypto holdings can carry a risk weight of up to 1,250 percent, and the products belong to the field of crypto structured products.
On 23 October 2025, GenTwo and EDG UK, which structured the derivative part, launched a bitcoin accumulator for professional investors with 50 percent capital protection and a term of 20 weeks, which buys bitcoin below the spot price every two weeks. Since 21 May 2026, the UK-regulated digital asset exchange Archax has been the preferred tokenization partner for AMCs on the GenTwo platform. Clients can issue tokenized AMCs and structured products on Ethereum, Hedera, Solana, Stellar and Canton, which turns the certificates into tokenized securities.

What is an actively managed certificate?
An actively managed certificate is a structured product, usually a tracker certificate on a basket that a portfolio manager adjusts at its own discretion during the term. Investors follow the strategy through one security with an ISIN, while the manager can buy and sell the underlying assets without issuing a new product.
Actively managed certificates vs funds
The issuer Vontobel notes that an AMC can be set up within weeks, while a fund often takes longer to launch and asks for higher minimum investments. A fund, including a tokenized fund, pools the money of its investors in a supervised vehicle, while an AMC is a security issued by a bank or a special purpose vehicle.
Is GenTwo AG supervised by FINMA?
GenTwo AG states that it does not offer or issue financial products itself, and its commercial register entry describes advice and services in the financial sector. Custody, brokerage and paying agency sit with licensed banks and brokers, and the products come from separate issuing vehicles in Guernsey, the Cayman Islands, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
Founders, investors and offices
Patrick Loepfe is co-founder and chairman of GenTwo, and Philippe A. Naegeli is co-founder and chief executive officer. Point72 Ventures, the venture capital arm of Point72, led a Series A round of USD 15 million in GenTwo in 2023. The company has its head office in Zurich, an office in London since 2024 and a technology and operations hub in Pristina, Kosovo, since 2022.
