LPEA Luxembourg

The LPEA, the Luxembourg Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, is the association of the private equity and venture capital industry in Luxembourg. A group of private equity and venture capital firms in the country created it in 2010. It has more than 690 members, and about half of them are investors.

Members are fund managers, institutional and private investors, service providers, and individuals such as independent directors, founders and business angels. The LPEA runs training, a conference series called INSIGHTS and member clubs. Hind El Gaidi has been president since February 2025, and Stephane Pesch is CEO.

Members and mission

The LPEA names four member groups: managers of private equity vehicles (GPs), investors (LPs), service providers, and affiliate members. Its mission has three parts: represent its members, make Luxembourg more attractive as a private equity hub, and give the industry a place to share knowledge and meet.

Luxembourg is a common seat for private equity funds sold to investors in several countries, from specialized investment funds to reserved alternative investment funds, and the depositaries and administrators in the Luxembourg financial center work for many of them. The LPEA is a member of Invest Europe and of Luxembourg for Finance.

LPEA Academy, VC MasterClass and INSIGHTS

The LPEA Academy, started in 2021, is the association's training program. The VC MasterClass, first held in 2024, is an education program on venture capital. INSIGHTS is the LPEA's conference series, and the association also holds the Luxembourg LP Summit for investors in funds. It publishes a PE Tech Map and hands out the PE Tech Awards.

Members also meet in clubs, among them the ESG Club and the Large Buyout Club, in the LPEA Young Leaders group and in PE4W, an initiative for women in private equity.

Tokenized private equity

Private equity funds have high minimum tickets and long lock-ups. Tokenized fund units are one way to open them to more investors or to trade them before the fund ends. Luxembourg law allows securities on distributed ledgers, and a Luxembourg fund can use that law to issue tokenized private equity units.
