Payoneer
Payoneer is a financial technology company from New York, founded in 2005, whose platform handles cross-border payments for small and medium-sized businesses. Online sellers, freelancers, agencies and exporters in more than 190 countries and territories use one Payoneer account to receive, hold, convert and send money in many currencies.
A seller in Europe who earns dollars on a US marketplace would otherwise need a foreign bank account, a currency exchange service and another channel for paying suppliers abroad. Payoneer gives such a business local account details in foreign currencies, collects its marketplace earnings and pays its suppliers from the same balance. In the European Economic Area, the Irish subsidiary Payoneer Europe Limited is the licensed provider.
Receiving accounts and marketplace payouts
A receiving account gives a business local bank details in a foreign currency, so a client or marketplace abroad pays it like a domestic supplier. Payoneer lets businesses get paid in more than 70 currencies, and money from Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Upwork, Fiverr and hundreds of other marketplaces lands directly in the Payoneer balance of the seller. The receiving account feeds a multi-currency balance that the business converts with Smart FX, spends by card or withdraws to its own bank account in local currency.
Marketplaces and platforms use the Payoneer mass payout service to send their sellers and freelancers earnings in 150 local currencies to more than 200 countries and territories. Payoneer screens each payee against several sanctions lists, runs the KYC checks and collects tax forms, and the payee receives the money in a Payoneer wallet, by local bank transfer or on a prepaid debit card. On 14 May 2026 Payoneer and Upwork extended their partnership of 15 years, under which Payoneer stays a primary wallet and "Direct to Local Bank" payout partner for freelancers in Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
B2B payments for small and medium-sized businesses
Payoneer also serves companies that make cross-border B2B payments, billing clients abroad or paying suppliers and contractors in other countries. A business sends payment requests and invoices from its account or shares a payment link, and the client pays by credit card, local bank transfer or ACH bank debit. For outgoing payments, the business pays in the currency of its choice to more than 190 countries and territories, with up to 1,000 payments in one batch, and it can pay VAT in several countries from the same account.
B2B grew faster than the marketplace business of Payoneer in 2025. Revenue from B2B customers rose 28 percent to $237 million, while revenue from small businesses that sell on marketplaces grew 8 percent to $469 million. Over the whole year Payoneer processed a volume of $87.5 billion, and at the end of 2025 it held $7.9 billion in customer funds. Payoneer also offers working capital to selected small businesses, typically between $500 and $10 million.
E-money licenses in Ireland and the EEA
Payoneer serves its customers in the European Economic Area through its Irish subsidiary Payoneer Europe Limited. The Central Bank of Ireland lists the company under reference number C189473 as an e-money institution authorized under the European Communities (Electronic Money) Regulations 2011. Under EU passporting, the license covers all EEA countries, so Payoneer Europe Limited serves businesses from Germany to Poland under one authorization. Payoneer Europe Limited is also an approved issuer of Mastercard and issues the Payoneer Business Premium Debit Mastercard from Ireland.
Outside the EEA, the regulated companies of the group include Payoneer Inc. as a money services business registered with FinCEN in the US and licensed or registered entities in Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, India and Singapore. Payoneer extended its European presence in January 2026 when it acquired Boundless, an employer of record platform from Ireland that handles payroll, taxes and benefits for staff abroad. Payoneer had entered workforce management in August 2024 with the purchase of Skuad, and Boundless now adds employment services in Europe.
Stablecoin payments with Bridge
On 17 February 2026 Payoneer announced stablecoin capabilities inside its platform, built with Bridge, the stablecoin infrastructure company that Stripe acquired in February 2025. Businesses are to receive, hold and send stablecoins through their Payoneer account and withdraw the funds to a local bank account, starting in select markets in the second quarter of 2026. In the same month Payoneer applied to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency for an uninsured national trust bank in the US to support these plans.
Upwork joined Payoneer in May 2026 as a design partner to explore stablecoin payouts for its freelancers. For a business that sells across borders, stablecoin payments settle around the clock, while bank transfers between currencies depend on the cut-off times of the banks in each corridor.

What is Payoneer?
Payoneer is a financial platform for cross-border business payments, used by small and medium-sized businesses, freelancers and marketplaces in more than 190 countries and territories. The platform combines receiving accounts, marketplace payouts, B2B payments, cards and working capital in one account.
How does Payoneer work?
A business opens a Payoneer account, receives local account details in foreign currencies and connects the account to the marketplaces and clients that pay it. The money arrives in a multi-currency balance, from which the business pays suppliers, converts currencies, spends with a physical or virtual Payoneer card or withdraws to its local bank account.
Checkout and Mastercard cards
Payoneer Checkout lets small businesses in certain jurisdictions accept payments from customers worldwide on their own website, and its revenue grew 55 percent to $35 million in 2025. Payoneer cards draw directly on the account balance, and customers spent $6.1 billion with them in 2025, 18 percent more than a year earlier.
