Swissquote
Swissquote is a Swiss online bank with its head office in Gland on Lake Geneva, and in 2017 it was, by its own account, the first Swiss bank to offer crypto trading. Its clients in Switzerland now trade 55 cryptocurrencies on SQX, the exchange that Swissquote developed itself, and keep the coins in a wallet inside their normal bank and trading account.
Clients can send most coins to outside wallets, stake four networks and pay trading fees that fall from 1 percent to 0.08 percent as their monthly volume grows. In Luxembourg, Swissquote Bank Europe offers up to 40 cryptocurrencies, and the ESMA register lists its MiCA license for custody, order execution and transfers from 24 April 2026.
Swissquote crypto: 55 coins and the SQX exchange
Clients of Swissquote in Switzerland trade 55 cryptocurrencies, among them bitcoin and ether, and they own the actual coins in their Swissquote wallet. SQX, the crypto exchange that Swissquote built, collects liquidity from large external exchanges, from Swissquote itself and from its clients to set its bid and ask prices. Clients can use advanced order types for more control over the price at which a trade runs.
The crypto wallet sits in the same account as shares, ETFs and a multi-currency Swiss bank account with its own IBAN. With the crypto-friendly debit cards of Swissquote, a client can pay in shops and convert only the amount that the purchase needs.
Crypto fees: maker and taker tiers
Swissquote prices crypto trades with a maker-taker model that depends on the trading volume of the past 30 days. A new client starts at 1 percent for both maker and taker orders, and the fee falls over ten tiers to 0.08 percent for makers and 0.18 percent for takers above 60 million of monthly volume. The bank charges no Swiss stamp duty and no stock exchange tax on crypto trades.
Crypto holdings count toward the normal custody fee, which is CHF 20 per quarter up to CHF 50,000 of assets and at most CHF 50 per quarter above CHF 150,000. Assets above CHF 1 million carry an extra 0.0075 percent per quarter to cover external safekeeping.
Crypto wallet, transfers and withdrawals
The wallet holds the coins in crypto custody at the bank, and clients send and receive most coins on their native blockchains, many tokens over the Ethereum network. A whitelisting process approves each outside address before any coins can go there. A deposit worth USD 500 or more is free, a smaller deposit costs USD 10, and a withdrawal of bitcoin, ether or another coin in the fee table costs USD 10.

Staking ether, Solana, Cardano and Polkadot
In the Crypto hub of their account, clients can stake ether, Solana, Cardano and Polkadot directly. Swissquote keeps 20 percent of the rewards as its fee and pays the rest once a week on Tuesdays. The staking guide of the bank lists for each coin the estimated gross reward, the lock-up before unstaking, the processing time and the use of any sub-custodian.
Swissquote Luxembourg and MiCA
Swissquote bought the Luxembourg bank Internaxx in 2018, and the unit is now Swissquote Bank Europe SA. Its clients can trade and hold up to 40 cryptocurrencies around the clock in an investment account, and the bank calls itself the first online bank in the European Union with a built-in crypto service. The ESMA register, also shown in the list of MiCA licenses, names 24 April 2026 as the date of its authorization for custody, order execution and transfer services.
